Jamil Hussein, the Iraqi police captain, who as the only source for over 60 AP stories of violence and mayhem/mosque burning has inspired much questioning about the accuracy of his reports since no one else has seen or heard of any of these events, or Captain Jamil Hussein himself — has been found.
Captain Jamil Hussein Blog | Yes I Am Existing
Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Captain Jamil Hussein of the Iraqi Police Service and I am actually existing. If you are a Hollywood celebrity or agent please contact me
These AP people have discarded me. They quoted me in 61 articles, but now I feel about as welcome as a keffiyeh at a Bar Mitzvah.
My friend Lt. Maithem Abdul Razzaq was simply despondent, because he, too, has been dropped by the AP. Yet my words and inspiration have cheered him. Yes, of course I have a plan!
Razzaq, Ali and I are shopping around a new television program based on the classic American TV program “Car 54, Where Are You?” The working title is “Iraqi Police Heroes, Where Are You?” I predict great success, especially on the merchandising side. (Ali wanted it to be “Iraqi Police Martyrs” but I explained to him that it might present some demographics problems.)
OK, the truth is I made up the thing with the burned bodies. Big deal! Have you never made anything up? After Bilal Hussein got arrested, the AP stringers moved down a few names in the Baghdad phone book and started calling me for stories. So I said, “Hey, dude, I don’t know anything.”
But these AP guys protested and said “Your last name is Hussein! You have to know something!”
Michelle Malkin can cancel her trip to Iraq!
If you have no idea what this is about, follow the Malkin link just above and then read through the story and the previous links.
In short, the AP ran 61 stories that listed a “Captain Jamil Hussein” as their only source about incidents that were extremely violent and brutal, including the story that was widely reported nationwide about the six muslim worshippers who were set on fire as they left a mosque. The problem is, no one else had heard anything about these events. No one could find Jamil Hussein. The Iraqi government went so far as to make sure that no “Captain Jamil Hussein” ever worked for them or as far as they can tell, doesn’t exist. The AP was asked to bring the guy forward since they’ve basically been publishing enemy propaganda as fact if this guy is not who he says he is — if he exists at all. The AP, through it’s Executive Editor, Kathleen Carroll has told us to effectively “Drop Dead“.
Eason Jordan, now free from the ties of his full-time job at CNN is already on the trail in Baghdad and has not found anything — yet.
