Daniels Suspended Collective Bargaining in 2005

Posted by Viv on February 18, 2011

Governor Mitch Daniels (R-IN) rescinded collective bargaining for state workers on his first day in office in 2005.  The result? Ninety-two (92) percent of union members left the union.

No outrage. No protests. No Nazi signs and targets painted on his photographs. No legislators abandoning their duties. No dirty Chicago politics. No president criticizing his actions.

More results? After those actions, Daniels managed to bring Indiana out of its $600 million budget deficit in the first year and then maintain a budget surplus, even during the recession.

It works.

You treat a tantrum by either spanking or ignoring, an mutiny is punished with summary execution.
