Absolute Moral Authority

Because plain old moral authority just wasn’t good enough — a mesablue production

Posted by mesablue on February 8, 2007

While I was in out of town for work (in sunny Phoenix) and also occupied by tearing my Bears jersey into tiny little pieces after the Super Bowl, I missed the dust up involving the John Edwards campaign hiring crazy cat lady feminista blogger Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon as their official “campaign blogger.”

Holy Crap in a bucket. Even I could have told the Edwards campaign that this was a horrible mistake. I’ve had a few run ins with Amanda “I hate babies” Marcotte over the years. If you’ve spend enough time wandering around the blogosphere you will recognize that certain kind of extra special crazy when you run into it. The kind where family members are always careful of what they say in her presence and though they think she is “special”, they would never, ever, let her alone with their children. In other words — just plain nuts.

Example from her blog:

Rehnquist died. He was no crusader for decency or anything, but nor was he a person whose ideology overruled his decisions. Those days for the Supreme Court are over. BushCo has a new appointment and can also choose the new Chief Justice.

Summary: We are fucked.

Choice is gone. And as soon as Roe v. Wade is overturned, states will start outlawing contraception, and eventually the ideologically run court will find that there’s no right to privacy, period, and contraception protection will be gone.

The only thing I can say now is that people who have enough children or don’t want any at all–get sterilized while you still can. As for those who want children, just not now….well, I don’t know. If you use condoms, stock up on EC now. If you use the pill, start exploring Canadian options.

One thing I vow here and now–you motherfuckers who want to ban birth control will never sleep. I will fuck without making children day in and out and you will know it and you won’t be able to stop it. Toss and turn, you mean, jealous motherfuckers. I’m not going to be “punished” with babies. Which makes all your efforts a failure. Some non-procreating women escaped. So give up now. You’ll never catch all of us. Give up now.

If you check out the pictures from the flickr.com link above, you’ll be left wondering about what kind of pot addled hippie would allow themselves to be used/abused to help her fulfill her threat.

I’d rather f*ck Rosie.

Well, it didn’t take long for Edwards campaign to figure out that they’d nearly set their own house on fire. After CNN got involved — they fired Amanda and fellow nutjob Melissa McEwan.

Iowahawk, as usual, has the inside scoop with purloined emails between Amanda and the Edwards campaign.

The Pandagon Papers

To: Senator John Edwards
From: Amanda Marcotte
Re: Job Offer

Dear Senator Edwards:

I am fucking delighted to accept your offer of the position of Official Blogger for the Edwards 2008 presidential campaign. Please find attached my fucking W-2 form.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for this totally fucking awesome opportunity to help you take America back from fucking BushCo and the other fucktard bible-humping extremists that have turned this once great nation into a goddamn rape factory for their snakehandling Jesus Camp hatebots.

In closing, I am so fucking proud to be a part of this campaign, and fucking gratified to know that I’ll be working for someone who fucking understands the importance of reaching out to progressive bloggers like myself. I look forward to contributing in any way I fucking can. You won’t be fucking sorry!

Fucking Sincerely,
Amanda Marcotte, “Pandagon”

Go read the rest, it only gets more hilarious.

Moosetracked at the Bullwinkle Blog

Update: Now they are unfired. Edwards caves in and shows he has no balls. This will come back to bite him in the ass. Who wants a president who caves in to crazy cat lady feminazi’s?

    John Edwards comes through:

Chapel Hill, North Carolina – The statements of Senator John Edwards, Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwen in reference to their work as independent bloggers before joining the Edwards campaign are below.

    Senator John Edwards:

“The tone and the sentiment of some of Amanda Marcotte’s and Melissa McEwen’s posts personally offended me. It’s not how I talk to people, and it’s not how I expect the people who work for me to talk to people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that kind of intolerant language will not be permitted from anyone on my campaign, whether it’s intended as satire, humor, or anything else. But I also believe in giving everyone a fair shake. I’ve talked to Amanda and Melissa; they have both assured me that it was never their intention to malign anyone’s faith, and I take them at their word. We’re beginning a great debate about the future of our country, and we can’t let it be hijacked. It will take discipline, focus, and courage to build the America we believe in.”

    Amanda Marcotte:

“My writings on my personal blog, Pandagon on the issue of religion are generally satirical in nature and always intended strictly as a criticism of public policies and politics. My intention is never to offend anyone for his or her personal beliefs, and I am sorry if anyone was personally offended by writings meant only as criticisms of public politics. Freedom of religion and freedom of expression are central rights, and the sum of my personal writings is a testament to this fact.”

    Melissa McEwen:

“Shakespeare’s Sister is my personal blog, and I certainly don’t expect Senator Edwards to agree with everything I’ve posted. We do, however, share many views – including an unwavering support of religious freedom and a deep respect for diverse beliefs. It has never been my intention to disparage people’s individual faith, and I’m sorry if my words were taken in that way.”

Give it a month. Amanda’s ability to control herself is only matched by Jane (blackface) Hamsher.

She’s out of there as soon as this dies down.

HA! You think most of us weren’t tickled about Marcotte being on the Breck girl’s blog?? I think it is beautiful.

I wonder how the UAW members are gonna take Marcotte’s brand of political debate? Or the 85% black voting block?

Seriously, and it will be fun watching how further down the road when the race gets more serious, her past crazed rantings mysteriously slip into the public eye, to embarrass Edwards, (provided she stays on that long).

    I predict fun times ahead.

Yeah, it won’t be Rovian Swiftboaters that take down the Edwards campaign; his own kind will chew them up and shit them out long before there are any partisan attacks.

    I’m sorry Blackshire, I didn’t hear you.
    What was that again?
