Stem Cells

Posted by Wickedpinto on June 6, 2007

ABC has an interesting article.

Harvesting stemcells without destroying the embryo.  They haven’t tried it with humans yet, but it proves that it’s possible.  I just wonder if this research would have been conducted on enough of a level if it wasn’t for those pesky god mythologists making the destruction of a human, or potential human life “controversial.”

If this pans out, we have one less meaningless us and them issue that the left can froth at the mouth over.

  1. Cell Creation Breakthrough Skips Embryonic Cells

If the research pans out, it would avoid the nasty and controversial use of embryonic stem cells. The procedure doesn’t even use embryos, and instead relies upon skin cells…

Pardon the pun, but if it works this would be a God-send. Removing one social issue from the cultural wars in this country can only be a good thing.

  3. I really don’t know where I stand on the embryonic thing, but I believe that the rhetoric consists of way too much hyperbole and false accusations on people (the anti-abortion/religious side) who are acting in good faith, literaly faith.

That is a cause for disagreement not for the vitriol that has been floating around for some time.

Considering that adult stem cells are the only stem cells that have produced any viable results, it may be a non-issue.

  5. medicaly mesa, but this will change a lot of the political rhetoric don’t you think?

That’s exactly what I’d like to see removed from this: the political rhetoric. These kinds of issues are important but ignite great passions and leave little room for compromise. If there is a way to make this a moot issue that would be good for our country.

  7. Fixes to situations which were were made instantly when you were an adolescent now take longer because your stem cell volumes have dropped. Without you even knowing it.
