Ok, I’m pushing the meme a little bit. But, I thought this was a cool map.

Dude, where’s my jet?

Posted by mesablue on December 4, 2007

Heh, The UN decides to hold a global warming conference in Bali, of all places, and has to worry about whether or not there will be enough room to park all of their private jets.

At NewsBusters:

Not Enough Parking for Private Jets Going to UN Climate Conference

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is being held at what NewsBusters reported as “a truly beautiful tropical island paradise,” the management of the nearby airport has issued a warning to attendees that they are going to have to park their private jets somewhere else.

I kid you not.

Tempo Interaktif reports that Angkasa Pura – the management of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport are concerned that the large number of additional private charter flights expected in Bali during the UN Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) December 3-15, 2007, will exceed the carrying capacity of apron areas. To meet the added demand for aircraft storage officials are allocating “parking space” at other airports in Indonesia.

Someone is going to have to plant a lot of trees or hit up their buddy Al Gore for a few million carbon credits to offset the pollution and wasted fuel that these jets will cause.

I mean, Bali is right on the way to most places, right?

Here’s an idea, why not have the UN global warming conference at — the UN?

Nah, it’s too cold in New York right now.

A blast of hot air at Bali’s climate conference

It’s not the waste that rankles so much as the hypocrisy. Some 15,000 politicians, officials, quangocrats and assorted busybodies are descending on Bali for a jamboree that will produce more than 100,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The purpose of their trip? To discuss how to reduce CO2 emissions.

We wonder whether there would be so many observers and hangers-on if the venue were, say, Düsseldorf. For many of those attending have no direct involvement in the talks.

For example, 19 MEPs, accompanied by advisers and staff, are in Bali, staying at a luxurious spa hotel. Not only will their fares, meals and accommodation be paid for by the rest of us, but they will also claim a further £95 per day.

Our purpose is not just to mock the attendees. No, we have a deeper objection.

The Bali summit represents much of what is wrong with the green movement, in that it elevates intentions over results. The supposedly ethical aims of the conference are presumed to render irrelevant the pollution engendered by its delegates.

Euro-MPs, and politicians generally, often behave this way. When Indonesia was devastated by the 2004 tsunami, MEPs cheerfully voted millions of their constituents’ euros in aid.

But when it was suggested that they might contribute a single day’s attendance allowance – around £190 – to the relief effort, they were horrified.

Why would anyone watch these idiots?

Posted by mesablue on December 4, 2007

The airheads on The View, of course.

“They had Christians before Jesus Christ, they threw them to the lions.”

This makes their political proclamations even more ridiculous.

The only reason I even noticed this is because they had their “favorite Republican nutjob”, Ron Paul, on today.

Scary — Hillary wants to love you long time

Posted by mesablue on December 3, 2007

All I can say is — Wtf?

Clinton Doesn’t Want a One-Night Stand

Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking in Bettendorf, Iowa, trying to convince a crowd to caucus for her, explained that she wants to be with them so that she can win Iowa in November 2008.

“I want a long term relationship,” she said. “I don’t want to just have a one night stand with all of you.”

I’m not thinking that this is going to help her take back the lead in Iowa.

Dude, where’s my fatwa?

Posted by mesablue on December 2, 2007

Not content just to blow up innocent people all over the world on a daily basis — now they want your blogs.

From a guy called “Radical Muslim”. Ya think?

Fatwaworthy in the Bloggersphere

Possible fatwaworthy sites in the Bloggersphere are many due to the array of sites that contain writings that slander Islam, therefore when I come accross particularly Islamophobic sites I bookmark them under ‘Fatwaworthy?’ Some will be well written while others will be an illogical mess, however, the common denominator between them is that they exist in part or full to spread Islamophobic opinions. Brothers and Sisters, please fell free to suggest additions to the list.

Some may ask ‘What is a Fatwa?’, while others may wonder what had made them worthy as with those deviants whom have recently linked to me in this respect. A fatwa is an Islamic religious ruling, a scholarly opinion on a matter of Islamic law. Therefore, when the Shari’ah again rules the world (inshAllah) the importance may be placed on a fatwa requiring acceptance that Islamophobic sites be peacefully shut down and no longer be permitted to exist. Untill this occurs it may be considered our duty to list such sites and even write/contact websites, media outlets and relevant officials in order to campaign for such sites be closed.

We must stop these sites that contain writings that slander Islam, to detail and criticise national and global conflict, poverty, injustice, oppression, the Far Right and the BNP, Zionism, the War on Terror, the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the illegal occupation and oppression of Palestine, the slaughter in Sudan and the persecution of Muslims and the current war on Islam.

Therefore I call on all transgressors to stop publishing anti-Islamic pictures, articles and blasphemous publications against Allah (SWT) and His prophet, Muhammad (SAW).

He then goes on to list all of the sites that he feels deserve fatwas, it’s a long list:

Some of the worst perpetrators so far that I have called on to stop publishing anti-Islamic pictures, articles and blasphemous publications against Allah (SWT) and His prophet, Muhammad (SAW), and warned of their crime are as follows. DO NOT read these sites as their writings are obscene and defamatory:

Now, that’s what I call a great list! Some of my favorite blogs are on that list. I’ll make sure to check out the blogs I’m not familiar with, as should you. Well, except for Stormfront, they are a bunch of neo-nazi, white supremacist Ron Paul supporters.

The comment section on his post is a hoot. Over a hundred comments with most expressing disappointment about being left off the list, myself included. I linked the bacon wrapped steak in the post below as proof of my evilness.

This comment from Radical Muslim (Jamal) pretty much sums things up:

And as soon as you realise Muslims are in every walk of mainstream life, and Islam is not your enemy but already part of your past, present and future, the better for you.
