Absolute Moral Authority

Because plain old moral authority just wasn’t good enough — a mesablue production

I’m homesick

Posted by mesablue on January 25, 2008

I used to live about two blocks from this place.

The producers of the show tried to make this into a social commentary. I never saw anything but good humored fun. Plus, they ALWAYS start it.

What do you expect from a bunch of drunks?

The racial slurs ruin all the trash talking fun. (If that’s what you’re into).

    Some people are just jerks.

ND, you’ve been around long enough to know that a VERY liberal show (NPR based)will wait around to get the sound bite that they want and then edit everything else out.

That was high school level Moral Authority.

99% of the time, that place is pretty tame unless the people that work there stir things up. And, there were cameras. Did you notice that the people that worked there were dancing along while the scary background music was playing?

That part was a hatchet job. Rich white people being eeevil.

And yes, some people are just jerks. But, I’m sure a lot of nice people went in there when the cameras were rolling — that wouldn’t have given them their smug take.

Also, locals tend not to go there late at night. It’s mostly obnoxious drunk suburbanites, people that are not from Chicago or are fairly new to town. Not “rich North siders.” There are a lot of places nearby that have better food where you don’t have to deal with the crowd.

Ira Glass and his show were too wrapped up in moral superiority to report the obvious.

His “hyper segregation” term is ridiculous. Uber liberal white guilt. He also forgot to mention that the Gold Coast and North Lake Shore all the way up to Rogers Park is stock full of wealthy white libs. They send kooks to DC that make Pelosi seem sane.

I go there almost every time I’m in Chicago. We call the place “Fuck You Dog”. It’s been hilarious every time I’ve been there.

And nothing tastes better than a Chicago dog at 2am.

I used to get Mexican food after the bar. At a place on Halsted about half a block from the Burritos As Big As Your Head place.

Taco Burrito Palace #2, I think.

Ha. I’ll have to give your place a try next time I’m in town.

  7. I’ve been there, and it’s brutaly cruel.

It’s like ed debevic’s only MUCH MUCH MUCH more offensive.

Debevic’s is insulting, this place is outright insulting, and it’s GREAT! takes a lot of steam out of drunk people, and uptight workers.

  8. sorry, this place is outright OFFENSIVE, not insulting, debevic’s is insulting, sorry for the typo.
