That “lost” Amazon tribe? Another leftie hoax…

Fake but accurate…you think they’d get tired of this meme after a while.

‘Lost’ Amazon tribe a publicity stunt

The man behind photos of warriors from an “undiscovered” Amazon tribe that were beamed around the world has admitted it was a publicity stunt aimed at raising awareness of logging.

Indigenous tribes expert, José Carlos Meirelles, said the tribe had been known of since 1910, and had been photographed to prove that they still existed in areas endangered by logging, The Guardian reported.

There was nothing fake or deceptive about the photos, and nothing about it is a hoax. Don’t take my word for it. Go read the original May 30 Yahoo! News item, or the May 30 article in the Guardian (UK), which is more complete. They got it exactly right the first time, and there is no mention of a “discovery” of a “lost” tribe, but rather the first-ever photos of a tribe that has had no contact with civilzation for 100 years. There was absolutely NOTHING in Meirelles’ statements that was false, misleading or deceptive, and reliable news sources got the story right the first time. But some lazy and irresponsible news sources, bloggers and readers who picked up on the story starting embellishing, talking about a “lost” being “discovered”, when no such statement were ever made by Meirelles or anyone else involved. The use of the word “hoax is entirely inaccurate, irresponsible and inflammatory. Get your facts straight. Every minute you leave this post uncorrected you are damaging the cause of indigenous tribes’ survival. JB
