I’m watching “Waiting for Superman,” right now, I’m only about 20 minutes in, this is my third break from watching it.
I’m a sentimentalist, but I ain’t bad at keeping my demeanor. This Movie, just 20 minutes in so far, is effing HEARTWRENCHING!
I will write a review sometime in the next week, I know a lot of people have already seen it, but part of what’s tearing me up is some of the background imagery, having to do with culture and other things. I need to get all of the, “Oh my god” out of my system, in rewatches before I go full bore.
On’y 1/6th the way into the movie, I already know, it’s must see. It’s shredding my soul just this far in, and I don’t have any kids, just a lot of relatives who are lil’lil’n’s.
I hope Viv does a better job whenever she gets around to writing her “Decision Points,” review, cuz I might effing lose it.
Red Skelton is one of the most famous comedians and clowns of all time, he’s from the middle Indiana area, so I think most kids around here, even now know who he is, even though they are almost 2 generations removed from anyone who actually saw one of his performances in person or on television live.
He started out as a clown, became a quite famous vaudevillian (like most clowns and vaudevillians of the time. Vaudeville and Clowning was high comedy back then.) and then with his fame he also started clowning a little more to reach a childrens audience. clem Freddy the Freeloader was a little bit adult, in that it depicts a drunk speaking “logic” when it was just round about excusing, like WC Fields used to do.
Here is one vid of Red, working with movie greats, people so great that you might call them “Thespians.” Freddy The Freeloader makes friends with Raymond Burr.
If you want another one, Here he is with Vincent Price, as Clem Kaddidlehopper (one of his most famous characters.)
On top of being an endearing vaudevillian, and clown and personality.
He was also a patriot who didn’t just play a clown who could cry, but could make you cry with him.
[update:]meant to say freddy, but I said clem. derr.
Was watching, “Son of Svengooli,” tonight and, “The Raven,” was the movie they were featuring. Here’s a brief clip.
Throughout the movie he’s wearing that outfit. look like it is made out of USACU Universal Camouflage patterned material.
Is it just me? Or Is Vincent Price about to attack a small north african urban area?
[update] I included a link to the wiki page for ,”Son of Svengoolie,” because not everyone might be familiar with it. It was a horror based, saturday evening broadcast, like elvira, only with smaller breasts and a bigger mustache, hosted by Rich Koz, a local radio personality, and now a sports broadcaster on ABC. In the Early Eighties, he joined with a few other market based broadcasters of genre films to broadcast old movies that were changed to 3d. (I think Elvira was a part of that also.) and you could only get the glasses at 7/11 or clark gas stations with a purchase of x amount or more. I’m fairly sure most people in this area remember that particular event.
Meaning that a columbia level misfortune is unlikely, Good. When one of the first things I read about the launch was of an apparent insulation impact (AGAIN) I thought that that would be a sad way to end an era.
Everyone complains! everyone can contribute, and it’s all for “the people” (electorate) and “The children” (moral authority, look at the URL)
PERFECT platform.
The citizens tend to ignore spending increases, because it serves them, and they oppose rational cuts because the political motivators tend to be politically active. But put this up?
You think people will complain about unnecessary Medicare/medicaid intrusion by the fed, unessessary regulation by the fed into a CLEARLY stated right in the constitution as it applies to arms, you think people will rise up about NOT funding abortion (a blatantly politically assumed right based on political expedience) you think the people will complain most about pretty much any of the prog programs, when the Progs start to cut into Defense, border security?
Briliant plan. It would be the death of most democrats.
I’m in charge he says 3 times in just those excerpts.
If Olbermann really is making as much or more than he did at MSNBC I suggest buying stock in the nearest new jersey producer of rulers, because they are gonna be emptying their inventories once keith gets to measuring.
Cost plus, helps promote research (without concern of actually accomplishing anything) but she’s clearly focusing on a more responsible fiscal attempt at pushing the COTS and CCTS and the other aspects, while clearly being muzzled by the expectations of her positions.
I find loving “SpaceShipOne” as a love affair as kinda week. Ruttan was chasing a goal, as were his funders, and it seems that the promise isn’t living up to the goals. As Rand said (I won’t link cuz I don’t think most of you care) Burt got caught in the commercial action and was locked into creating a hybrid, rather than being able to negotiate for a pure liquid engine that is considered “The most efficient rocket” ever produced (It’s relatively small, but stack two of them on SS2, and you reach suborbital, but you can’t do that, because their is a contract.
Meanwhile Xcor is expecting their first suborbital flights in 2013 (I might have that wrong) and able to reach out to commercial within 18 months after, but Burt eager to be the first, and with a level of funding that is ridiculous just raced to be first, and might prove to have damaged VG in terms of competition.
This is good news, though some of the article says that they are fast tracking. Maybe because of some of the eeorish (likely rightly placed but they might prove us wrong) of Xbrad, Mesa and I not trusting the rosy promises of the plain being fully functional, especially the naval versions. Just last year, it looked like the ’35 would have been drawn out for another 2 years, moving fleet inventories from 2014, to 2016, all while cutting off funding to the f-22, I still think that was a mistake, but I’m affraid of heights, I just read reviews.
the ’22 has approximately the same airframe as the ’35, as I understand it, and economies of scale would drive prices down as long as there is enough cross production of basic parts, and while 500 is a solid number for a complete fleet, most nations don’t have the land mass, or the international obligations that the US has. Stopping at 500, sounds short of ideal, since it would increase maintenance and replacement costs across all US theaters of guardianship.
But overall, good news if it follows through, and wasn’t fast tracked irresponsibly.
I thought this was illegal. What is the difference between this and doctor shopping?
“NO BLOOD FOR OIL!”
“Kill The Dictator Bush”
“I need someone who has sworn an oath of service to lie so that I can intimidate individuals.”
Hrm.
More from goober including some snark from Althouse. It definitely looks illegal, or in violation of their professional mandates.
[more: Althouse put up her vid, I already put in the link, and the doc kinda scoffed off any anxiety you are suffering as an excuse, which proves the complete lie of the PBA argument about the mothers “physical and mental health.” basically proving the social con’s point of that allowing the doctors to say “okay what do you want, I will find a way to describe it.”]
Side question: How many people are going without medical care because these doctors are being activists rather than healers?
No outrage. No protests. No Nazi signs and targets painted on his photographs. No legislators abandoning their duties. No dirty Chicago politics. No president criticizing his actions.
More results? After those actions, Daniels managed to bring Indiana out of its $600 million budget deficit in the first year and then maintain a budget surplus, even during the recession.
Um. . . If the teachers don’t want to work which is there prerogative, then why are they complaining about cut backs? If all goes well then they don’t have to work at all, so that’s a win win right?
I happen to be of the opinion that dry laws, particularly sunday dry laws, actually increase traffic incident. Most everyone who drinks and lives in a border town, in a state with sunday dry laws has expereienced the borderline mad dash to non dry states on sunday before the licquor stores close.
My bro hates my arrogance, Yes I’m arrogant, I know who I am, and I know who I was, and I know particularly how things are right now.
But I think I’m a good guy, maybe I’m not, but I think I am am, am I wrong for thinking that? At one time I held the world in my hand, and then I opened my fist and I saw nothing, now I see nothing. Is that arrogance? or is that recognition? Is there a Need for a fight? is there a need for any sort of conflict? I know who I am, do we have to wage this war over and over again?
Okay bro, you are better than I am. does that fix the situation?
